It looks like Prairie Fields will get one more year of new construction activity. 2014 saw the last of the new construction builds on Gentian and Sunflower streets and the lots sold very quickly at that time. Expectations will be high for the final set of home sites.
The News Gazette reported this past weekend that general plans and the preliminary plat were approved for the final phase of Prairie Fields subdivision in Savoy, IL. The area will hold 44 additional single-family lots on Cattail Ave. and Gailardio Street. In case you have always wondered, the streets all share names of prairie flowers. This has vastly expanded my flower knowledge over the last few years!

The vast majority of the homes completed in the last phase of Prairie Fields were built by Signature Homes and Ironwood Homes. According to Bill Peifer at Signature Development home prices in the final phase will likely range from the $250’s to the $280’s and the lots will have similar dimensions (roughly 55′ wide and 120′ feet deep) as phase 13.
Prairie Fields held strong demand before the addition of the Carrie Busey Elementary School and strengthened even more afterwards. Average time on market was only 40 days last year, one of the strongest areas in Champaign County. There are also walking/biking trails, a central playground, baseball and soccer fields.
