Elementary school registration is quickly approaching and the Champaign Schools system is geared up to inform and educate parents on the ever so fun “School of Choice” program in Champaign.
School administrators and teachers are hosting community forums to discuss and explain the Champaign School of Choice program and Kindergarten Registration. From personal experience I can tell you these forums are very valuable. The system is frequently misunderstood and misrepresented when parents share bits and pieces of what they know or think they know.
Community Forum Dates:
- January 10 – 6pm – Temple Baptist Church – 1100 Broadmoor Dr., Champaign
- January 26 – 6pm – Booker T. Washington STEM Academy – 606 E. Grove St., Champaign
- February 16 – 6pm – Barkstall Elementary – 2201 Hallbeck Drive, Champaign
Elementary School Tours and Open House
The Champaign Schools have also arranged for tours of the elementary schools on Monday, January 9, 2012 and Monday February 6, 2012. The tours are available at any of the Champaign elementary schools. They start at 9am and 1:15pm and last for 30 minutes. There is also an evening open house February 28, 2012 from 6-8pm. We toured 3 schools last year and really enjoyed the experience. It was very helpful to get an actual feel for the schools that you have only heard friends and neighbors talk about.
